Greenhouse

Last week on Monday Room 18 made greenhouses it was really fun.  First we got a piece of paper to draw over when we finished we  cut it out .  At the bottom of the paper it said Greenhouse at the top it said your name .  We got  a snap-lock  and wet paper towel
and and 4 cotton balls. Then we put them in the bag we did not put soil it.Then we got 6 pinto beans and put them in the bag we put them in the front of the bag.

Migration and Hibernation

I learnt that bears sleep in the winter when it is cold.  I think it's interesting how

the birds fly in a V shape.

Add numbers with coins

I was learning to add coins. I needed to add the coins up. Ones with dollars say one and two dollars on them. The ones that are the cents have the round cents on them. It was tricky to do the cents because it was harder to count them.

Speed and agility

Yesterday Room 18 went to Youth Town.  We had it at the field.  We were learning about speed
 and agility.  We played cat and mouse you need cones and two lines of people.   One line of people
are the cats and the other line of people are the mice.  I had fun playing the game.

Rounding to 10

I was learning to round to 10. I learnt that 5 more then add one more to the 10s then if it is 4 or less you leave the 10s the same. It was easy to put the numbers together because I can put the numbers and choose them.

Plurals with s and es

I was learning to add  es and s to finished the words. I know to put es at the end of words when
there is a ch,x,s,sh.

Today room 18 made nests.  We went outside and collected leaves.  We drew a plan in our sketching book.  We used leaves and a carton and a container.  

Maori language week

  On maori language week room 18 was learning to count in maori. Me and Tiffany were korero mai which means talking in  slow motion.   

Myna bird mask

This week is conservation week.  We are learning about  NZ 

bird's like Pukeko Tui   and lot's of others.The Myna bird eat's insects,fruit and really likes berries.  The are introduced

to NZ.They have a shiny black head.

Cross country race

On Wednesday year 2and 3s had cross country.  The  classes were 

nerves.  I was hot and sweaty .   ASHLEY came 1st TARA came 2ed 

and SAVANA came 3ed.   I had the best time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was happy and it 

was FUN!

I was learning  to write a narrative story. I learnt how to do the resolution when everything is solved.
It was tricky to do the problem.

I was learning to do synonyms and  antonyms.It was easy to put the
same meaning words together.  It was tricky to do  the word.

It was tricky to find the correct ways for the speech marks.

I was learning to find the 'er' sound words. It was easier to find the ir ones.

It was tricky to underline the words because you have to click
command U. It was easy to do the bold letters.

I was learning to make patterns. It was easy to put the shapes in order because I just looked at the the ones before it to see the pattern and then put it in.

Matariki Chalk Star

Room 18 made Matariki  star's. First we coloured in the star's then we did some patern's on the star's.

Maths:skip count by 2,5 and 10

I was learning to count in 2s,5s and 10s. I know how to keep adding numbers on to find the answer. It was easy to put them all in the right order for the 10s.

Writing:explanation

It is really important to wear shoes outside. It keeps your feet safe and clean. If your shoes are on you can't cut your foot. You shod wear shoes   because you don't want to step on something yucky like dog poo or mud.




I was learning to write an explanation. I know to use my ideas from the plan. it was easy to think of ideas about each topic.

WALT: Text to self connections

I was learning to make a connection with myself and what happened in the story.It was hard to do my connection. I thought of 5.

Baking ANZAC biscuits.

Today room 18 made ANZAC biscuits. I put the coconut in the bowl and I rolled dough into a ball after we rolled the ball we have to squish the ball down. I had fun baking.

I find tens and ones easy. because i know my tens and ones.It was tricky to cont in tens.

I was learning to explain the main idea. I know how to say the main idea. it was tricky to do the 3rd example.

Art: sketching a self portrait

Art reflection:
I was learning to draw a self portrait using a sketching pencil. I learnt how to draw my eyes better. It was tricky to draw the nose because it is to big. It was easy to do the hair because  you just had to draw lines.

I have been learning to float on my own in a star fish by lifting my chin up. I am also learning to keep my chin up. I think I need more practice.
